My Story

My journey to Functional Diagnostic Nutrition began long before I ever enrolled in the course. For years, I had already been deeply invested in helping people heal. My professional path was rooted in mental wellness, trauma-informed care, and supporting individuals through some of life’s most difficult and transformative experiences. I had spent years walking alongside others as they worked through stress, pain, survival, and growth. Over time, however, I began to see something more clearly: so many people were carrying struggles that were not only emotional or mental, but also deeply physical. Stress was living in the body. Exhaustion was showing up in daily life. Burnout, inflammation, poor sleep, digestive issues, and nervous system dysregulation were often woven into the same story.

That realization made me want to understand the body in a deeper way.

I was drawn to FDN because it offered a broader lens. One that looked beyond symptoms and helped uncover hidden stressors, healing opportunities, and the lifestyle patterns that shape how we feel every day. It felt like a natural extension of the work I was already doing, but through a different and incredibly valuable perspective. I wanted to be able to support people in a way that honored both mind and body, and FDN gave me language, structure, and tools to do that.

What made the experience even more meaningful was that I did not just study the work academically...I lived it. During the course, I ran functional diagnostic tests on myself and learned more about my own body in a way I had never experienced before. One of the most eye-opening discoveries was learning my metabolic type. That information changed the way I approached food and nutrition. As I applied what I was learning, I made the decision to go gluten free, and the results were powerful. In just two months, I lost 40 pounds AND my brain fog. More than the weight loss and brain fog, the experience showed me what can happen when we stop guessing, start listening to the body, and make more personalized choices that truly align with how we are designed to function.

That journey strengthened my belief that healing is not one-dimensional. It is not just about mindset, and it is not just about physical symptoms. It is about understanding the full picture. It is about honoring the ways stress, lifestyle, habits, and physiology interact. It is about creating a path that supports the whole person.

Today, arriving at FDN feels less like a career pivot and more like an expansion of my purpose. It brought together my passion for helping people, my respect for the body’s wisdom, and my desire to offer a more integrative, compassionate approach to wellness. It has allowed me to support others not only in understanding their challenges, but in moving toward greater balance, clarity, and sustainable wellbeing.
